Things That Go in Boxes

Fun news: Things That Go in Boxes, one of my collages made during my residency at Playa, will be included in the upcoming exhibition, gift, at Berry College. The title of the show borrows from issues discussed in Lewis Hyde’s book, The Gift, in which he compares the reception of an artwork to that of a gift that is received. As such, the artwork plays a unique and privileged role in society and one that fosters community and dialogue.

This exhibition was juried by art historian Jordan Amirkhani, who is deeply involved in contemporary art and culture both internationally and regionally and her writings have been published in a range of publications including Artforum, Art in America, and BURNAWAY.org. Dr. Amirkhani is also an expert on the French artist Francis Picabia and is currently assistant professor in the Art Department at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
