Inspired by Uline

These collages and watercolors were made while I was an artist in residence at Playa Fellowship Artist Residency.

These collage works play on the object associations typically associated with gifting – boxes and wrapping paper. I use imagery pulled from Uline catalogs, which becomes dissociated from its original meaning. Both visually and conceptually, I am interested in contrast, especially as it relates to contemporary anxieties and ideals. I rely on bizarre juxtapositions of seemingly unrelated influences throughout the series, and I work to challenge the binaries humans continually construct, hoping to disrupt seemingly infinite cycles.

Some of these collages are available on Etsy.
