OLDSCHOOL show in Canada…

by Ellen Mueller on July 3, 2008, no comments

2 Things today:

1. Come see my final performance art piece in Minneapolis this Saturday, July 5, 2008, at 5pm at the Soap Factory as a part of Artery24!

2. I’m going to be in this sweet exhibit up in Canada (Calgary, Alberta) at the UPPERCASE Gallery. The “Old School” theme will celebrate the aesthetics of twentieth century education through an art exhibition and companion book, as well as curated objects. It is inspired by vintage flash cards, old desks, biology class, science fairs, crayons, card catalogs, textbooks, class photos, teachers, yearbooks, lunchboxes, gym class, maps, lockers, report cards, film strips, recess, spelling, chalk… and the list goes on! Here’s an image of the inspiration pack I was sent:

The exhibition ( August 23 – September 30) will be documented in a commemorative book, available in September. While the book is not finished (in fact all the artwork may not be complete yet because all artists are creating works specifically for this show), UPPERCASE has opened pre-ordering to the public. Ordering now gets you the book, free shipping, and a special super secret surprise!
I’m nearly finished with the pieces I’m going to be submitting, and I’ll be sure to post them here when they’re done, because I’m sure it will be difficult for many of you to make it up to Calgary!
