Myvatn, Iceland – Hiking Trip

by Ellen Mueller on July 26, 2013, no comments

This is one of my final posts from Nes Artist Residency. I took this hiking trip almost two weeks ago, but have been shooting and editing videos like crazy. Thus, my tardiness!

Myvatn lagoon near powerplant

This is a small lake of geothermal water next to the powerplant in Myvatn – the turquoise is surreal!
Hverfjall from the path looking south
This giant crater was fun to walk around – we traveled the entire rim.Leirhnjukur: walking through the steaming lava fieldThis might have been my favorite hike – the ground was still steaming and hot in places from a volcanic eruption a couple decades ago!

Namafjall big mud pot

The mud pots were really cool to check out (also stinky). I wanted to touch them so bad, but we were warned many times that they are boiling hot…
