Grades are submitted, break is well underway, and it’s time again for my semester round up where I look back on teaching these past few months…

Drawing II / Advanced Drawing: Alternative Media
We had a lot of fun in this class experimenting with Adobe Illustrator, cut vinyl, print-on-demand products, sewing, layered resin drawings, and spray-paint stencils.

Painting II / Advanced Painting: First World Problems
I tweaked this class a little bit from last year’s version – I added a theme to the class, “First World Problems,” which was a nice frame for examining privilege while building painting skills on both a large and small scale. We did large murals, and we also did a collection of nine “selfies” on small 4″x4″ canvases.

Natasha Carr "Grease," food art performance

Intermedia: Food & Art
In this class we spent a lot of time reading about our relationship to food, learning how to shoot video projects, and executing performances and installations.

We also took a road trip to Cleveland! We drove up and back in one day and we visited the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland.
