Alchemical Ground

Two-dimensional collage works and low-relief sculptural assemblages by Megan Hildebrandt, Magnolia Laurie, Cynthia Mason, and Ellen Mueller of the EyeSplice Collective

The works in this exhibition are constructed through processes of omission, deletion and destruction, examining questions about building, composition and juxtaposition within both the formal and conceptual elements of the works.Through the collection and combination of raw visual material, these artists highlight the simultaneity of disparate images and objects via interdisciplinary and cross-media approaches.

EyeSplice is a collective of women who incubate questions and develop work from a myriad of backgrounds and geographical locations. Curation in this manner is purely conceptually based; aesthetic convergences and divergences are emergent and unpredictable. Members of EyeSplice represent a contemporary network of artists, brought together for brief periods of study or residency but transient in their proximity to one another and intentionally spread across the country.
